Zahariah Zainal Aminuddin began her career with American Express Malaysia as a Customer Service Analyst after obtaining her diploma in Tourism Administration from UITM Shah Alam in the early eighties. With the desire to pursue her childhood dreams in the field of Education, Zahariah furthered her studies in the United States of America where she graduated with M.Sc. in Education (Teaching English as a Second Language) from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. During the course of her studies, she was actively involved in massive International Student activities and programs and even undertook some
challenging work assignments by being the first Asian Events & Programming Intern for the University where she was presented with a NAFSA (National Association of Foreign Student Association) grant to attend an International Convention in Washington, U.S.A. For her
involvement and excellent communication skills, she was also awarded a Minority Student Award by the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, U.S.A.
Upon returning to Malaysia, she became a lecturer in UITM and not long after, she accompanied her husband back to the states to pursue his Ph.D. There, at the University of Urbana-Champaign she was offered a Visiting Teaching Associate position at the renowned Intensive English Institute of the University for the duration of her time there. Not only was she teaching, but she was also elected to become a board member of a prestigious
International Cultural Organization of the University, the Cosmopolitan Club.
In Malaysia, Zahariah taught at several local universities. Beyond being in the academic arena, she has also been heavily involved in various training programs for corporate and public sectors and a Master of Ceremony for several events. One of the many exciting endeavours throughout her career in education was her major assignment as an Education Consultant for the development of head teachers and assistant head teachers’ program under the Ministry of Education in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Zahariah’s passion in the importance of the quality of education and empowering people through education and training programs remain a top priority in her personal and professional endeavours.
